Last summer we stumbled upon a small construction site at the park and noticed “Mark Bradford” written on some large wooden crates. Bradford is an LA artist that I’ve been a big fan of since the mid 2000’s known for his large abstract mixed media paintings. Excited, I made it a point to come back in a few days. We came back to a massive wooden boat structure made out of plywood that I had to do research on to appreciate more. Since i found out it was a temporary exhibit, I came back a third time with my camera to document it 📸 before it was taken down.
“Mark Bradford’s ‘Mithra’ (2008), a 70-foot-long boat-like sculpture that evokes Noah’s wooden Ark in the story of the global flood, was shown for the first time in Los Angeles as part of a call to action and a potent symbol of our shared responsibilities to protect those most vulnerable to the threats of climate change.
Originally exhibited in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans in 2008, ‘Mithra’ – named after the ancient Persian god of contracts, oaths, and mutual obligations – suggests the hasty and resource-poor construction of a ship built to escape a fast-approaching calamity like rising seawater.” - Emerson Collective @emersoncollective

Some portraits I’ve shot of clients in their own environment.
