Shooting for the Moon
From Grand Ave., my attempt at shooting for the "blood moon" or lunar eclipse a few months ago was futile, but at least I gave it a shot. The architectural sculpture that you see here is on a 10 acre campus, part of Ramon Cortines school of Visual and Performing Arts, my daughter's high school that she graduated from. It was designed by Austrian architect Wolf Prix and his firm Coop Himmelb and recieved immediate acclaim. Architecture critic Christopher Hawthorne comments, "When the school was finished, in December 2008, it became clear that it was a hybrid design unlike anything Los Angeles had seen before."
